Amazon working on own brand smartphone

Amazon is apparently working on its first ever smartphone which is rumoured to appear next year at the wallet-friendly price of £130
Things are looking pretty good for Amazon right about now. The companys Kindle eReader brand has blossomed into the Kindle Fire HD tablet and, as Christmas approaches, we expect the retail side of the business is doing fairly well too.
Seems like a good time for a healthy tech rumour to surface, right? Well, according to "industry sources" quoted by the Taiwan Economic News, Jeff Bezos company is planning its first smartphone. Apparently Foxconn - the very same that manufacture Apples iPhone 5 - has started producing models for Amazon.
The as-yet-unamed unit will be toting the Android OS and could arrive with a price tag of $200 - or £130 to us over here in Blighty. The low price point shouldnt really surprise anyone if Amazon does launch a phone - the company will likely follow its tablet strategy of making more money from content than the actual device.
Amazon hasnt commented on the rumours itself but it did, rather amusingly, wrap this ladys Christmas present in thirty feet of paper. Well keep an ear to the ground for more Amazon smartphone rumours and let you know as soon as we hear anything.
