Sony launches 4K Ultra HD Video Player TV

Sony has unveiled a new 4K Ultra HD Video Player for its upcoming 84-inch 4K LED TV (XBR-84X900) allowing consumers to view 4K resolution movies and short form 4K videos. It will be a bonus exclusively to the purchasers of the Sony 4K LED TV($MSRP: $24,999.99). To complete the home experience, the package also includes Xperia Tablet S that serves as a remote control through an easy-to-use app. The video player comes loaded with content, including both full length Hollywood features and a gallery of videos. The 10 full-length feature films include The Amazing Spiderman, Total Recall (2012), The Karate Kid (2010), Salt, Battle Los Angeles, The Other Guys, Bad Teacher, That’s My Boy, Taxi Driver, The Bridge on the River Kwai. The 4K video shorts, included in the player are Red Bull Media House’s exclusive 4K videos The Athlete Machine: Red Bull Kluge and four acoustic performances of songs from Red Bull Records’ Heaven’s Basement’s new record, “Filthy Empire.”
Apart from this, the Sony XBR-84X900 TV supports more than 7,000 Blu-ray Disc titles currently in distribution, to a near-4K resolution through the use of Sony’s proprietary 4K X-Reality PRO three-chip picture engine. Finally, Sony is promising more content and product announcements to be coming soon.

ASUS Launches P320 PDA Phone

Following the recent launch of the Lamborghini ZX1, ASUSTek Computer Incorporated (ASUS) Taiwan announced the launch of their P320 PDA phone in India, on June 24, 2008 .The ASUS P320 runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, which is an OS known for its reliability and user-friendly interface. The phone also features the companys proprietary ASUS Today interface for a better look and feel. Add to this the fact that the phone features GPS navigation with an inbuilt SiRF Star III chipset, EDGE/GPRS class10, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, USB connectivity, 3G capabilities, and more, and all of it accessible easily thanks to its 2.4-inch screen.

Whats really great though is the fact that the PDA phone incorporates every function youd need or want, and does throws it all into a small, light and user-friendly package.

Edward Wang, Head Mobile Communications ASUS, said "India is growing as a big market for PDAs and Smartphones, and that is the reason why the ASUS P320 is designed stylishly and is by far the smallest ASUS PDA—economically priced at Rs 12,900 so that more people can get to use a PDA. The future is smart phones"

As far as the future is concerned, Wang said that ASUS is very keen on equipping their PDAs with their second generation interface called ASUS Glide. Future plans also include its own chain of ASUS Experience stores, and dedicated service centres, which will be launched in the metros soon. ASUS is clear about sticking with Windows mobile for future products as well, so those looking for alternate OSes are out of luck.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 launches

The Samsung Galaxy S4 launches on Thursday and the mobile world is currently making its wish list. One expert wants a smartphone Tony Stark would be proud of
"Its time for smartphones to get smarter." Thats the message from the mobile community as Samsung prepares to unleash its latest game-changing smartphone, the Galaxy S4 on Thursday night.
In the final part of our interview with research firm IDCs mobile guru Ramon Llamas, he tells us that Samsung has an opportunity to enter uncharted territory by revamping features like voice control to help the device to become a true personal assistant, rather than something we can bark orders at.
Whether it arrives with the Galaxy S4 tomorrow night or not, Llamas envisions a handset which users can have an actual conversation with in the not-too-distant future.
He told T3: "Your devices are already smart and needs to become smarter and more aware of what’s going on. All of the information coming through cellular or Wi-Fi needs to be rationalised with the data you already have on your phone to act like a true personal assistant.
"Samsung S-Voice came out last year. I thought it was OK, but lets take it to the next level and improve the feedback mechanism. How about if the Galaxy S4 was able to tell you, without pushing a button, You have an appointment at 2pm with Ramon Llamos. You just received an email to say he’s running late. Can you do it at 2:30 instead?.
"In the movie Iron Man, Tony Stark is able to have a full conversation with his armour. We need the same thing with smartphones. It’ll need to be able to know what’s going on around you, know what you and your other friends are up to, know what you have planned ahead and it’ll tell you how to optimise your trip, your route, etc. Let’s optimise all of the events going on so you can be on your merry way faster and easier."
Llamas wasnt brave enough to predict that the S4 will realise the era of the mobile personal assistant though, adding: "We might not see this with the S4, but it has to be at least in the planning stages. If you take a look at all of the things they made the S3 do, what seems to be a reasonable target to accomplish, I don’t think we’re that far off from having something that much smarter on your person."
Is dramatically improved voice control something well see on the Samsung Galaxy S4 when it is unleashed at a glitzy event in New York on Thursday night? Not long to find out. Well be live-blogging the event from 11pm UK time and will be there to get hands-on with the device with a quickness.
