Apple Buy Patents LTE, for Samsung Lawsuit Anticipation - iPhone 5 reportedly will have 4G connectivity LTE (Long Term Evolution). The prediction was intensified after Apple bought a number of patents related to LTE technology in order to avoid legal action.



Samsung is reportedly poised to sue Apple if using LTE technology. Samsung itself has quite a lot of registered patents related to LTE technology that has powerful ammunition.

Last year, Apple did not have LTE patents registered at the European Telecommunications Standards. But this time, Apple recorded already acquired 318 LTE patents that listed the top 10 LTE patent holders. Being in first place is Samsung with 819 LTE patents.

Apple is known only developed 44 of 318 patents. While the rest they bought from another company last year, the Nortel and Freescale.

"This shows Apple is taking strategic steps to acquire the intellectual property in order to prepare for litigation before releasing LTE smartphones," the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
